UPDATE: Masks in schools

From the very beginning of the pandemic, the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District has adhered to guidance from the California Department of Public Health and our county health department. We intend to follow the updated state guidance unless more restrictive measures are adopted by the Monterey County Health Department. In accordance with the state’s update, effective Monday, March 14, 2022, masks will be strongly recommended but not required for students (regardless of vaccination status) at all MPUSD school sites and departments.

Town Halls in English and Spanish will be held this evening (March 1) at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to learn more and ask questions. Read full story for links to Town Halls.

Important Message for 6th Grade Families Regarding Middle School

Walter Colton Middle School will close at the end of the 2022-2023 school year (after this year’s 7th grade students promote from 8th grade into high school). With Walter Colton Middle School only operating an 8th grade in 2022-2023, all Del Rey Woods Elementary 6th graders will be zoned to attend Seaside Middle School for 7th and 8th grade. If you are satisfied with Seaside Middle School as your home school there is nothing more you need to do. If you would like a transfer, please read more.
