Principal's Message

This week we celebrated! We celebrated students earning respectful, responsible and safe awards, as well as those that had perfect attendance for Trimester 1. We had so many Dolphins to celebrate! In addition to our awards assembly, we also welcomed parents for several events in the past two weeks. These events are made possible with the support of our community and our fabulous Community School Coordinator! Ms. Gwynne does so much to support our school, next time you see her, please take a moment to give her a big, "THANK YOU!"

This week our Superintendent and MPUSD Cabinet team sent an important message to all families related to our mission as a school district to  create a space that welcomes all students and families, regardless of their background and family history.  Please see the detailed message below.

Around Campus
We made our goal! We want to thank you ALL for taking the Youth Truth survey! We look forward to your feedback. Del Rey Woods has the highest response rate from families of any school in the District! Your voice helps us be the best team we can be, look for more in the upcoming months for ideas we find from your feedback. Now our students will choose what kind of party they would like to have thanks to your efforts.

Safe Routes to School: All students in grades 2 and 5 had such meaningful skill building sessions this week with Ecology Action's "Safe Routes to School" program. Students in 5th grade participated in the bike rodeo. Second graders learned about street safety and crossing safety. Thank you to our Safe Routes for these free educational assemblies and activities!
Awards: Congratulations to our award winning students! We had our awards ceremonies this week to honor students for safety, responsibility, respectfulness and dedication in math and reading. Congratulations to our winners!

Costume Parade and Trunk or Treat: Thank you families for showing up. Our parade was so fun and the students loved having their families there. A HUGE thank you to our Trunk or Treat volunteers! We hope you get some rest this weekend!
Each Day Counts
The calendar chart below displays the percentage of our students who attended school each day during the month.  Our average daily attendance rate is currently at 94.7% with Tuesday being our strongest attendance day last week. Let's strive for 95% each day next week! Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding your child(ren)'s  attendance. We are here to support!
