Leaders' Message
Drum roll please...we are almost to the end of September which means only a few more days until we celebrate out students with perfect attendance! Keep it up! Being at school is just fun, students bond and grow, learn new things and keep up with their classwork. The healthy habit of showing up will help young people in the long run as they learn to be consistent and resilient.
We welcomed 224 of our students to clubs, teams and sports clinics during and after school these two weeks! It is so fun for us to see students diving in and participating in things they love. Thank you for your support in making this happen, and especially thank you to our parent volunteers who are showing up every week to assist like Serena Smith, Mario Garcia and Miguel Blanco Martinez! Since the beginning of the school year over 265 of our young people have taken advantage of our after school opportunities. Read below for the list of activities that are still open! We will have even more clubs starting in October after Fall Break.
After school activity participation policy: Most of our clubs and activities happen on campus after school. We are a closed campus until 6:00 PM to keep our campus safe and controlled for our two onsite aftercare programs CPY and ELO. Students being picked up after a club or sport will need to be picked up at the front office (except volleyball, which uses the side gate next to the lower playground). Older students who have guardian permission to walk home may do so before 4:00 PM while our school office is still open, but any club or activity that ends after 4:00 will need to see a parent or guardian pick the student up. This policy ensures no student is unsafe getting from school to home. We appreciate your help in adhering to this policy.

The goal for us at Del Rey Woods is creating a safe environment for students to thrive and find their passions. Every day we see them engage in positive struggle and growth is fulfilling that goal. Thank you all for working with us to give our students the best opportunities possible!

After school enrichment activties update: We still have space in many clubs and activities! Clubs and activities in PURPLE still have room!
- Student Leadership: Tuesday, September 29, 2:30 in the library.We welcome our new student leaders for this meeting!
- Hands On Engineering: Tuesday, September 15, 2:30 Room D-2. Run by "Kodely" (grades 2-6)
- Math in Motion: Wednesday, September 16, 1:00 PM, Room K1. Run by "Kodely" (grades TK-2)
- Soccer Clinic: Wednesday, September 16, 1:00 PM, meet at cement tables by cafeteria
- Indigenous Mexican Dance: Monday, September 21, 2:30 Room D-2
- Anime/Manga Club: Monday, September 21, 2:30, Room D-5 (Mr Mourges' classroom)
- Basketball Team Practices: Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting September 22. Meet at the cement tables by the cafeteria.
- Volleyball Clinics: Tuesdays 3:30-5:00 beginning September 22. Note the late start time, and consider capoeira or student leadership on Tuesdays for your student if they are not part of CPY or ELO.
- Martial Arts/ Capoeira: Tuesdays 2:30-3:30 and 3:45-4:45 beginning September 22. Room TBD
- Everyone Belongs Club, Grades 5/6: Room B9 during 5/6 grade lunch
Some clubs and activities on the way, but that are not quite ready for a release date, or happen later in the year are art club, African Drumming, ROV, Hackathon Club, K-Pop, spirit line/cheer and World Choir. Look for updates and thank you families!

Each Day Counts|
Our Attendance is inching up! We are so proud of our Dolphin's making each day count!

September is attendance awareness month! We love seeing you here at school! Every day counts, and helps your child succeed. Please try for 100% attendance during the month of September! All students who are here every day on time in September win a certificate of achievement and are entered into a drawing for prizes! So keep on getting here~ our goal is 96% attendance. |
