Leaders' Message
We are so very proud of the work our young people are doing. Around campus students are proud of their accomplishments, like Eric in 6th grade who was smiling ear to ear and said "I got 100% on my science test". Or Iker who coordinated a presentation for the entire 5th grade about different communication styles, techniques and devices. Or Skyler who worked so hard on her art project, even at home after the Latino Heritage Family Night last night, then brought in the final product to be admired. today!
Watching our students thrive means so much to us, it is why we do what we do. Thank you for supporting them, and helping us to help them reach their goals and be the best they can be.

Around Campus
Latino Heritage Family Night was so fun for all of us! We did "mola" art from Panama (see attached photos), listened to music from Colombia, ate food from Mexico and were instructed by our school director Ms Monge who's families of origin are from Ecuador and Cuba. Thank you Ms Monge for the super fun art instruction! Thank you to our artists and our families who came, and thank you to our volunteers (see below).

Soccer Clinic for all grades, thank you parent volunteers Serena Williams and Mario Garcia who helped this week and thank you to Miguel Blanco Martinez for agreeing to start helping next week as well! WIthout these parents we would have had to turn away 30-40 students who are interested in soccer. These volunteers make soccer happen for so many kids thank you!

Brighter Bites Food Packing: Thank you to parents Mario Garcia, Serena Williams, Yolanda Martinez, Jennifer Castello and Lidia Karen Bocanegra for your vital support packing our family bags of produce!
Family Night: We could not have done our Latino Heritage Art Night for Families with out Yigael Santiago and Lorena Martinez as well as help from staff members Maria Lopez, Ms Mah and Ms Monge! It was such a fun night thank you all! To the parent volunteers that made our field tripshappen thank you!
Constitution Day! Our three 5th grade classes (and 5/6 combo) were granted a meaningful and special treat. Judge Rafael Vasquez of the Superior Court came and presented on our constitution, our constitutional rights and shared his origin story. Judge Rafael Vasquez grew up in King City, CA. Both of his parents came from Mexico, having never been given the opportunity to attend school beyond 6th grade. Through the dedication and grit of his family, he found his way to pursuing a law degree, and then became a judge. Our students were affirmed and engaged by this meaningful and welcoming presentation. I am sure we will see some of these students follow in his foot stepped as a passion for justice was clearly ignited!

Our Attendance is inching up! We are so proud of our Dolphin's making each day count!

September is attendance awareness month! We love seeing you here at school! Every day counts, and helps your child succeed. Please try for 100% attendance during the month of September! All students who are here every day on time in September win a certificate of achievement and are entered into a drawing for prizes! So keep on getting here~ our goal is 96% attendance. |

Upcoming Events
CAFECITO and ELAC! Monday Morning at 8:00, room B-1: We hope you will join us with bagels and cream cheese provided by our own Monterrey Bagels and Donuts! Have a cup of coffee with us! Share you rideas with us about the school. Then we will have ELAC as well. See you there!

Some clubs and activities on the way but that are not quite ready for a release date, or happen later in the year are art club, African Drumming, ROV, Hackathon Club, K-Pop, spirit line/cheer and World Choir. Look for updates and thank you families!
