Leaders' Message:
We want to thank our families for all the help and support we see you providing around campus and behind the scenes. As a Community School, we base our decisions and direction together based on student and family voices. All of our events, community partners, clubs and activities are chosen based on our student and family feedback and ideas. Del Rey Woods is a special place. You can feel it on campus. It is the spark we see from every student, the excitement around events and the engagement we see every day. Thank you for helping us propel our students into a bright future by sharing your voice, showing up for our events and all that you do for our students! This school is a gold mine!
Next week is going to be very full and very fun! We have three after school clubs starting, student leadership starting, our first Brighter Bites food pick up (We need volunteers! See below) and our first Family Fun Night on Thursday September 17 to kick off Latino Heritage Month. A Federal Judge will visit 5th grade classrooms to share about Constitutional Rights in honor of Constitution Day. We have field trips, and so much more!

Each Day Counts
September is Attendance Awareness Month! Here at Del Rey Woods every student with perfect attendance for September will win a certificate of accomplishment and be entered into a prize drawing! Dolphins Show Up! Every day counts while we build connection, learn every day and have a great time together! Please join us!
We are starting off strong in September! Fourth Grade is taking the challenge seriously! Let's see if other grade levels can catch up to them!

Upcoming Events
FAMILIES PLEASE VOTE! SSC/CSAC: School Site Council and the Community School Advisory Committee meet once a month to help guide and direct our school. Parents, guardians, community members, students are all encouraged to join! Can you join us? Our first meeting is this Tuesday, September 15 at 5:00 PM on zoom. We need your votes! Please vote for our next School Site Council parent representatives on the ballot here.
Family Fun Night Thursday, September 17, 5:00 PM: Come join us or our first Family Fun Night! Families have responded, and let us know events in the evening are often the only way they as working families can come be on campus with us and their kids and we are here for it! We are kicking off Latino Heritage month. Our very own Ms Monge, our school principal will lead us in Latino themed crafts! Come join us for dinner, music, games and a fun night together! Hosted by Student Leadership. Please look for a separate post to RSVP so we get enough food!
Brighter Bites Needs Volunteers! Can you help us?: September 17, Thursday, Brighter Bites will bring their first food pick up! We need help putting the fruit and vegetables into bags from 11:30-2:00. Can you help us? Please let Ms Gwynne know: (831)312-9452 or gcropsey@mpusd.net

Volleyball Clinics: Tuesdays 3:30-5:00 beginning September 22. Note the late start time, and consider capoeira or student leadership on Tuesdays for your student if they are not part of CPY or ELO.

Everyone Belongs Club, Grades 5/6: Room B9 during 5/6 grade lunch
Some clubs and activities on the way but that are not quite ready for a release date, or happen later in the year are art club, African Drumming, ROV, Hackathon Club, K-Pop, spirit line/cheer and World Choir. Look for updates and thank you families!
Constitution Day: Thank you so much to the Monterey County Federal Judges who will come and donate their time to teach our 5th graders and Student Leadership about our Constitution and their Constitutional Rights. What an amazing example of Community coming together to support our school! We are excited to welcome Justice Suarez Tuesday, September 15.
