Principal's Message
We had another fun and full week of learning at Del Rey Woods! It has been wonderful to see students settling into routines, building relationships with their teachers and classmates, and beginning to dig into the learning ahead. Each week, our goal is to continue building classrooms where students feel known, connected, challenged, and excited to learn.

Part of building solid relationships between students and school is simply being here. We are off to a great start to the school year with strong attendance! Let's keep it in the green this year!! September is Attendance Awareness month where will highlight things we can do to keep our attendance strong!

Around Campus

Morning Assembly
This Wednesday we held our first monthly Assembly. We celebrated 3 classes with perfect attendance for the first 5 days of school: Mrs. Kenar's 1-2 combo; Mrs. Buchman in grade 2 and Ms. Mah in grade 3. These three teachers got to bang the gong, which is always a big hit! In addition to banging the gong, each class was able to choose a reward for showing up!

Our leadership students drew names and announced winners for the Dolphin Card drawing. This year we have incorporated different prizes for our upper grade students. Thanks to last year's leadership team we have journals, cool pens, fun stickers and sequence dolphins for our older scholars to enjoy. Student drawing are every Friday and during our monthly assemblies.

Upcoming Events

Conference Week, August 17-21: At Del Rey Woods, knowing our students and their families

is top priority. Every connection strengthens our ability to help strengthen our students. Please come to a conference the week of August 17-21, as well as our August 18 Open House! Look for your conference invite from your teacher. Thank you amazing parents!

Back to School Night, Tuesday, August 18, 4:30-6:00: Come check it out! Enter the raffle for prizes like tickets to Monterey FC, enjoy a pizza dinner, play games and enjoy super fun activities! See you there!

Clubs and Sports: Sign ups begin at Back to School Night, 5:15 PM! As a Community School, we work together with students, families and staff to build the clubs kids want and ask for. So far this year we have ACT Theater, student leadership, basketball, volleyball, soccer, Mexican Dance, martial arts, engineering, ROV, math in motion, dance and visual arts. Come to Back to School Night to learn about the many clubs we offer and help us build even more!

August 29, 2026, 7:00: Del Rey Woods at Monterey FC! Join us! We will raffle off 8 tickets at the Back to School Night so please enter the raffle! We will have a section with tickets at a discounted price so we can all sit together, and our Dolphin mascot will be there as well as some of us hosting an information table for Del Rey Woods.
